I hope everyone had a enjoyable holiday season. But for us at Beta Delta Omega it is now back to work. Very few events are planned for the spring semester so far (mainly the induction ceremony and the awards ceremony) so if you have a great idea for a Phi Theta Kappa event please write out a proposal. It will be very much appreciated. You can find a proposal form on Blackboard.
At this point, meeting times for the spring semester are not availible yet, it will depend on advisor, officer and room availibility. But it will be decided soon.
Our Holiday Food and Toy Drive was a great success, we were able to make the holidays more enjoyable for 31 families. Thanks to all that donated and volunteered. The pictures for this event are now availible in the event history.
I am looking forward to a great spring semester with all of you.

This semester for BDO has been so extremely productive and I have never felt more pride than I do at this moment knowing that I am a part of such an astounding association in my higher education. As many of you know I have been lacking in my participation due to injury, but I cannot go without giving proper credit to the officers, advisors and other members who have gone out of their way to make this a phenomenal semester for everyone involved. PTK has given to me a sense of camaraderie as well as a sense of pride. I am looking forward to another semester dedicated to not only scholarship, leadership, fellowship and service but also to the joy and fulfillment of being a part of something so important. My participation in PTKBO has been essential in forming the frienships which go beyond the typical college memories. PTK goes infinitely beyond the papers, beakers, midterms and finals.
Thank you PTK. I feel a form a fortune that goes beyond any word in any language.
Please visit our Beta Delta Omega site at http://www.ptkbdo.org/
If you have not participated in any of our events or meetings, you're seriously missing out.
Sincerely,
Deena Ramberg
Enhancement Officer
P.S. Enjoy your winter break!

The holiday season is upon us and this year especially many people in our community need your help. The Beta Delta Omega chapter of Phi Theta Kappa is holding its annual Holiday Food and Toy Drive to help Mt. San Jacinto community members. We are collecting food as well as holiday gifts for MSJC students, employees, and local San Jacinto and Menifee residents in need. Our chapter is trying to aid as many families as possible but we need your assistance. Every donation no matter how small helps!
We are looking for non-perishable food items which include boxed and canned goods. Our goal is to supply individuals or families with all the ingredients needed for a holiday meal. In addition, we are collecting gifts for adults, toys for children of all ages, and food or toys for family pets. Donations can be deposited in any of the donation boxes listed below that are located on both the Menifee and San Jacinto campuses.
MSJC faculty members and staff, Phi Theta Kappa officers, members, and alumni, as well as Child Development Center staff can nominate individuals or families in need. Please email suhrig@msjc.edu if you would like a nomination form or forms can be picked up in the ASB/Phi Theta Kappa office on the San Jacinto campus inside the cafeteria. The Beta Delta Omega chapter will assemble gift bags and holiday meals for nominated families on Friday, December 19th in room 1250C (SJC) starting at 8:00 a.m. If you have time, please join us on the 19th to help assemble the gifts and meals.

Hello comrades-
As a reminder, the next fellowship event will be a holiday potluck and gift exchange held on December 9 at Christina Yamanaka's house at 5:30 p.m. Gifts are to be no more than $5. Please email me at doolittlej@rocketmail.com to find out how you can contribute. Remember it is a potluck so that requires everyone to come together to make it work :)

Hello Everyone! At our last chapter meeting we began discussing where we would wrap all of our food and toy donations, we may wrap at San Jacinto, Menifee, or both. If you could please email me your thoughts or begin a dialogue on the discussion board I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you!

Hello all! Christian Saupe proposed an excellent idea to help raise chapter funds, however, the officers were unsure whether we should reward volunteers monetarily or with a recognition award at our annual award ceremony. If you could kindly review Christian's proposal and begin discussing your thoughts on the discussion board it would help the officers to act in a way best suited to the chapter's needs. Thank you.

I like to remind everyone that Part IV of our Honors Seminar Series will take place on December 2nd at the San Jacinto Campus in Room 200 (Board Room) between 5:30pm and 7:30pm. The video lecture will be held by Dr. Michael Galaty and the topic is: “Archeological Evidence for the Origins of Affluence”.
Professor Pam Ford will facilitate the lecture and the discussion so it will definitely be very interesting.
This event will take place instead of our regular chapter meeting.
In addition we are closing in on the deadline for our chapter’s essay contest which is Thursday December 11, 2008 by 12pm. You can find the guidelines by clicking on the Scholarships button on the menu bar.
